I applied in late February 2023. I got a call soon after the position closed on March 1st. I arranged for an in-person interview in early March. The confirmation email was the last one I received from the institution. The interview was brief, covering my relevant experience. I got a tour of the lab afterwards. I was told I would get updates on the process and that I could call at any time if I had questions. A month later, I called and was told that the position was still in process. Understandable given the complexity of the position. A month after that, I called once more asking about the status of the position. The call went to voice mail. Not yet having received a response two days later, I called again. In the interim the position had been reposted with no notification sent to me. Not having checked the job board, I called again requesting an update. Once again, my call went to voice mail with no response. Confused, I checked the job board and saw that the job had been reposted. This meant that I had to reapply and interview again if I wanted the position. Once again, I had received no indication of this. Subsequent communication with HR and the tone of those connecting me to HR convinced me that I did not want the position. In the words of a friend that I asked to help me make sense of it all "They're Francis Tuttle, I thought that they would be better than that."
