Basic start with phone interview testing HR questions, proceeded to WebEx interview(s). Eventually was invited to an on-site at their Novi, MI office. Really cool building, but didn't really get to have a tour :(
It's true what others say on this site, it's about 3 hours of interviews. But don't worry! None of mine were programming on a whiteboard, which I respect about HARMAN. It was three rotations coming in and asking questions - 1 HR and 2 sets of engineers. Basic HR stuff, and then mostly complexity/design stuff on the engineering side (see "Interview Questions" below). Other reviews definitely helped me prepare for these.
I left this feeling quite confident leaving this onsite, and then I had a web-interview with the Head of HR (?) or equivalent, which felt like just a formality before receiving an offer. The only downsides here:
1) Strung me along for 2-3 weeks w/out being able to determine if I had an offer or not
2) When they finally called back, they started by telling me I was not getting an offer but they had some feedback. Fair enough, I can learn from my mistakes. But after receiving recognition for performing well during the interviews, they nit-picked and said listed one of the reasons for not receiving an offer was that I wore a hat in one of my WebEx interviews (keeping in mind I was in business formal in all interviews minus that one), so absolutely ridiculous in that respect.
For being so transparent and an all-around kind company through and through, to be slapped with this at the end felt extremely unfair and rude; I suspect they emphasized these minor issues in the case they had found a different candidate already.
