HICX Sales Engineer interview questions

HR was not organised and doesn't answer questions on email even though they write "please let me know if you have any questions". Had a call with the hiring manager which was extremely positive, I was told I was exactly what they were looking for. I then met with the sales manager and had a positive experience as well. I was scheduled for the final call and HR cancelled just an hour before the call saying they found someone else and telling me I was a better fit for a totally different department that's not even in my area of experience. I found this very rude as I had spent hours preparing for the interview and was not even given the chance to have it. It was also confusing after the positive feedback I had got in the past, I wondered if they say that to everyone. I would prefer to work at a place where honesty is important, including during interviews. If I'm not a good fit, lets say that and move on, not waste people's time.
