WIth utmost frustration and disgust, I'm hereby writing a mail regarding my poor experience with the interview process today. I had applied for the Project Manager role in Homelane, Hyderabad. I received a call from HR from Homelane, Dilshuknagar, Hyderabad branch. She said she found my resume impressive and she felt I was a good fit and asked if I would like to proceed with an interview. I gave a green flag saying I would like to proceed further. After further confirmation, I was sent an invitation. The things that went horribly wrong in the interview-
The interviewee has scheduled his video conference through a mobile phone, which is alright, but I'm pretty sure it was not an office. His signal was tampered and there was a random person behind who was constantly peeping in the video call (I do not remember the name of the Interviewee).
There was one more person in the call, who did not speak a word, nor was his camera turned on the entire duration.
The interviewee went ahead without any discussion or questions from me that he just saw my resume and he feels I'm nowhere fit to be for this role.
There were no questions asked and it was a straight rejection without question.
His remarks were sexist, stating that I would be travelling 8okms every day and after my 80km site visit, I would have to come back and finish my tasks. He did not even ask me for my consent and straight away stated that I was not fit for this role.
The video call lasted a maximum of 5 mins with him asking no questions. I feel that the interviewee was downright SEXIST and believed that women were not fit for construction works. Mind you, all this while a random person standing behind and staring at the video screen.
I'm more than open to rejections and I take my interviews seriously. I really wish HOMELANE, supposedly a reputed organisation takes their interviews seriously too. If you do not wish to proceed with a candidate, you always have the option to send a rejection stating that I'm not suitable for this role. You just cannot call a person for an interview just to state that I'm not for this role without asking any questions.
I'm utterly disappointed with HOMELANE and I do not wish to ever be a part of a culture that does not respect a fellow human being's time and skills. I really wish I remembered the name of the interviewee, but that's alright for now.
Please respect candidates and value their time. Nobody deserves to go through this. I'm sorry, Homelane is supposed to be reputable, but the team is going to let everybody down. Poorest recruiter I have ever seen in my entire life. I do not ever want to be associated with such colleagues or an organisation.
