I attended the Interview process with IHS Markit for the role of senior Java developer on 17th Jan 2019. I am having around 4 years of experience. So, the JD clearly mentioned Strong core Java, spring, soap and rest, hibernate , basic Linux and beginner level proficiency in PL/SQL. First, we were given a pen paper test with 20 technical mcqs and 20 aptitude and logical reasoning questions to attempt in 45 mins approx. The questions were a little bit tricky but easy to attempt if your concepts are clear. I attempted 38 questions correctly.
Then there was a F2F technical round. The Interviewer had a good knowledge of Java and data structures and asked really good questions. He was focussing on the approach and was really very helpful. The Interview took around 1 hour.
Then there was 2nd technical round. The Interviewer seemed to be a database administrator and was very sluggish in the way he was talking. He asked me some basic SQL questions that I answered correctly. Then he started asking me DB administration tools related questions. Since this is not my domain of expertise and not even the position I am applying for, I explained him the nature of work that I have worked upon. I have a very good understanding of SQL as well required for my domain though. But he wanted DB admin expertise only. Then, just for formality, he asked me a few trivial questions on inheritance and polymorphism that are not asked even to a fresher. Taking into account, the level of questions and the way he was asking and responding, it was very clear that he had never worked on Java . Then he asked me to wait outside.
After some time, HR came and told that they need DB administrator on an urgent basis and since I didn't fit into that position, I was asked to leave for the day. When interrogated about the JD shared by the HR, my written test and 1st technical Interview, all to be in sync with my skillset, then how come the requirements changed now? She just said that the interviewer has m
