Initial phone screening with VP of department. This appeared to go well and l was contacted by a recruiter to schedule the final 4 hour interview with multiple members of the team followed by a 30 minute conversation with an HR rep. The final interview was fairly straightforward. Asked questions regarding my experience and how l would go about starting an analytical project. The final hour was spent with an engineer who asked more “technical” questions revolving around querying a database using SQL and how l would visualize data using graphs. Overall the interview went well and at the end of the interview l met with an HR rep who was very nice and explained the compensation package. She proceeded to state that they were unable to give me a salary range for the position at that time and instead asked what my expect salary range was. In the end l was sent a generalized email saying they “valued my time” but would not be proceeding with my candidacy. When asking the recruiter for feedback regarding my interview, they stated they were unable to provide any feedback due to “the goal of being consistent with every candidate”.
Overall, people l met with for the interviews were friendly and seemed like they would be awesome to work with, but in the end l was left with a bad taste in my mouth when l was passed over without any explanation.
