      Applications Engineer Interview

      18 Jan 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ImageXpert

      Interview

First was an email asking how I would troubleshoot different scenarios. Then two video calls before having an onsite interview. I was an untraditional candidate in that I don’t have an engineering background by training, but I explained several times that I have the skills and experience to learn what is required. This seemed to be good enough to keep advancing through next steps. For the onsite, I was given a tour around their small lab, being asked what I think different pieces of equipment do. I was brought into their cafeteria and asked if I could do some calculation on an ink drop from a time lapse. lol, no, but if required I can google it or ChatGPT it to get the understanding. This was the point when I really gave up and stopped caring. I was brought into another room with the ceo and two others. They were drilling me on my background and experiences. I phoned it in since this was looking like a waste of time. The ceo seemed very egotistical about himself and the grandeur of the company. Overall, the place has a very boomer mentality and looks like a company that no one ever leaves or develops.
