The interview process took around 4-6 weeks.
There were multiple rounds: one with the Creative Team, a 3D test submission, a review call of the submission, and a final round with the CEO.
The first rounds were great. The team gave me a great vibe and we connected quickly. I was very interested and they looked very promising.
The recruiter who reached out mentioned a range, that this was a senior role (matching my experience), and that relocation would be provided since I was across the country.
I usually do not do free design submissions, but this seemed like it was a great fit so I decided to do it. They loved the work and everything seemed to be on the right track. Then the red flags started to show.
The first red flag was my meeting with the CEO. Why wouldn’t you turn your camera on if you are interviewing a candidate for a Senior Role? I found it uncomfortable.
I was preliminarily offered by the recruiter was significantly more than the offer that I received, they also backtracked and denied the relocation assistance. It was unsettling, and gave me a lot to think about their inner workings and how unorganized they are. That is a huge difference from the preliminary offer. The recruiter tried her best for me to accept but it was impossible to agree to these terms.
Looking at all the reviews post my interview, it seems like I did the right thing by not relocating for a company that has such high turnover and horrible reviews.
