I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at JSI Telecom (Ottawa, ON) in Feb 2009
Interview
The interview process was long. JSI has only a 3% voluntary employee turnover ratio (not that there is a lot of involuntary turnover either), so they like to have multiple interviews with multiple people to make sure the fit is right (both ways). Most of the developers hired in the last couple of years had to write a take home exam, although I didn't.
The office was pretty nice. Some developers had single offices, but most were two developers to an office. There were no cubicles and most of the double offices had windows. Each developer had two, 24" monitors and I was told that JSI would give us whatever equipment we needed to be efficient at our job.
The developers are all smart, so the interview was challenging. Developers help with the interview process.
I was told that I needed to be able to be secret cleared (resident of Canada for the last 10 years, no criminal issues, no drug use) in order to keep the job.

Question 1
The next stage in the interview involves a 12-hour take-home exam. But, we only give you three hours to write it. Are you still interested enough in working for JSI to give up three more hours of your time?
