      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Juul Labs (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2019

      Interview

If you are reading this then you are probably at the early stages of the interview process with JUUL. Like yourself I had researched the company and interview process on Glassdoor and in hindsight wish I had taken the red flags I read about to heart. I am writing to help inform my peers regardless of what path you choose to take. As I mentioned, I had reviewed Glassdoor and found a lot of negative feedback on the interview process, hoping that my experience would be different I continued along. The process started with a recruiter reaching out, even though he had been recruiting for a few years it was evident that he was inexperienced based on lack of structure of questions he was asking, and the sense that he was trying to sell me on the company more than I was interested at that stage. After the initial screening I was asked to complete a case problem which recommended candidates to take approximately 6-8 hours to complete (I spent about 10). Next was a phone interview with the hiring director which was the most unorganized interview I had ever experienced. It was clear he had not looked at the presentation I submitted prior to the call and the entire conversation was scattered, assumingly he had better things to do even though I was told the company had more positions to fill than they knew what to do with. Next was 2 more phone interviews, one with a director level and another with a junior member of the strategy team, both of which were equally unorganized. I followed up after and was told I would receive feedback the following week, as the week went by I thought I would give them time and waited until the following week to follow up again. At this point I never heard back from the recruiter. While I understand it happens all the time, not getting back to a candidate is one thing but completely ignoring a follow-up email after hours spent on a case study and 3 phone interviews is flat out pathetic. I am sure that this experience does not reflect on every person who works at JUUL but instead just a few poor team members so if you want to continue with the process I wish you the best of luck, but if you value your time do yourself a favor and deeply consider my negative experience and the negative experiences of others who have also shared on here. Best of luck on your job search!

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Juul Labs (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The interview process was thorough but straight forward. After applying online it started with a phone screen interview. The interviewer was more focused and getting to know you on a personal level and making sure you would be a good cultural fit as well as a talent fit. After that there was a homework assignment to do that would be presented to the hiring manager. The instructions indicated that the assignment should take 6ish hours, but it took easily 10 hours of careful thorough work. The hiring manager looked over the assignment and decided he wanted to move forward with the presentation which lasted about 45 mins. We had to schedule additional time to go over work history as the presentation took up the entire time of our first meeting. Through both of the first two steps everyone was smart, accommodating and seemingly positive about my fit with the company. But unfortunately that presentation was two months ago and I haven't heard a thing back despite many emails simply asking for an update or a discussion around other fits within the company since this role has apparently been filled. Sadly' it seems this method of turning down your application by ghosting is common practice as I've seen it mentioned in several other reviews here. In no way should you skip applying overall, because its a growing company with a good mission, but just be aware that the conversation may stop at any given moment with no explanation.
