I applied online. The recruiter first asked for an ELC demo lesson which I could upload on YouTube. There was a specific theme and I had to act as if I were teaching 1-2 year old kids. I then was invited to an online interview where the recruiter mostly talked about my lesson demo. There was a Japanese staff member there, but she mostly observed. Honestly, I thought the actual interview was pretty easy, almost too easy. The lesson demo was a bit of a challenge, but really not a big deal. I think the main thing is seeing your energy and interactions. They will give you curriculum later, after all. The part that was challenging actually came after the interview: first they asked for an FBI background check. This takes a lot of time and money, so I asked if another background check option was ok, which they agreed to. Then they sent me the contract and a big packet of additional info and paperwork to fill out. This was the part that puzzled me: some questions in the paperwork I received during the contract signing seemed like interview questions. It makes sense they would want to know, and yet it felt kind of backwards and I thought, "Is this another interview right here?" They also offer a three month initial contract. This is your probationary period. At the end of the day, I declined because I didn't think it was quite the right environment for me. I also have noticed their job postings up a lot, which made me wonder how their turnover rate is. I will say the recruiter I worked with is very encouraging and a lovely person to talk to. he She has great energy and seems to genuinely care about her work and potential employees. Wishing you the best!
