I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Kern (Germany) (Berlin) in Dec 2023
Interview
The process was well-structured with reasonable questions, but the interviewer hinted from the beginning that she would like a chance to end the interview early.
The friendlier I got, the more annoyed she got. Perhaps I shared too much when she asked me to introduce myself, but students and strangers usually respond well to a self-deprecating joke about talking too much. She just humorlessly agreed. And when at one point it seemed like she potentially had repeated something that had already been said during a rapid-fire spiel, she hinted I had triggered a red flag. This seems like an odd precedent to set for a teaching interview. I sincerely hope that students do not get treated this way.
At the beginning, I even warned her that I was in a good mood having just taught an enthusiastic primary aged student. She noted that this was unfortunate. It was not until the end of the interview that I realized her distaste was not for children, but rather for good moods.
