Byfar the strangest interview I’ve ever had. The questions they asked seemed simple enough to answer but when it came down to me asking my own questions I could not get a straight answer from the assistant director’s. I asked if they had behavior reports at their school and I asked if children needed to be potty trained by a certain age. Neither of those questions got answered with a simple “yes” or “no.” As a teacher, I believe these are important questions to ask in an interview. I politely explained the importance of my questions and I could tell by the look on the assistant director’s face that she could care less and that I wasn’t getting a job offer the following week. That was fine with me because having a supervisor who doesn’t answer any of your important questions is a nightmare I’ve already experienced and don’t care to revisit. They wanted 5 references (2 managers, 1 co-worker, and 2 spiritual) which kind of seems like overkill due to the fact that they wanted them before I had my in-person interview. I’ve always been asked for references after an interview and that depended if I was invited to the next step or not. They also kept trying to encourage me to consider another job position that I didn’t apply for and expressed that I wasn’t interested in and after I made it known that I wasn’t interested in that position, they continued to ask questions in regards to the position that I didn’t want. Very strange process.
