I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Localvore in Jan 2017
Interview
Dan - the "CEO" - responded right away to my application saying that I was "perfect for this role". After an extensive hour-long phone interview with the CEO, they gave me a coding challenge and was told that I would hear back soon. The coding challenge was no small task. I submitted my PR. Days went by and still no word from Dan. So I reached out. He said that he had made offers to two other people. ....thanks for the update, man! PR closed .... but wait! He emailed back 10 minutes later to say nevermind actually one of them turned down the offer so now I was back in consideration. All that he would need were 3 references. So I haggled ex-employers and ex-coworkers and sent those in. He said he would get back to me by the end of the day or early following day. Once again, Dan did not get back to me in time. In fact the next person that I heard from from Localvore Today was @travisdmathis who commented on my closed PR on Github saying "i would like to commit this, if you would still like it committed and use it as opensource contributions.." .... ummm okay I guess I did not get it but they still want my code on their repo? At this point once again I have to reach out to Dan who has already hassled me around and received at this point HOURS of my valuable time and expertise only to hear that indeed "We're going to pass. Thanks again for your interest." This is exactly what is wrong with the tech hiring and companies like Localvore Today have no problem taking advantage of the situation. I would not do any business with a company that runs their hiring like this.
