I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lumo BodyTech in Jan 2016
Interview
The whole process was rather uncoordinated and sad really. I guess this comes with being a fledgling startup.
There was a screening interview via phone followed by, ahem, a 'technical' phone interview. The interviewer was changed twice, followed by what turned out to be a joke of a technical interview.
There were a few of red flags that I noted. The resident data scientist (the interviewer) was a PhD from a low rung school with a poor publication record and a non-existential presence on github. And well, the quality of the questions reflected these traits.
PS: A humble advice to the interviewer: Prepare before you interview someone! There are a dozen data scientist books out there.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Some questions regarding hypothesis testing, cross validation etc. Sophomore stat majors from a decent ranked undergrad institution could easy sleep walk through the interview. (No kidding).
