I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at MITRE in Feb 2022
Interview
I was referred to this position by a friend. From start to finish, this process took over 6 weeks from initial contact. It took about a month for someone to reach out to me following my referral.
I was initially put in contact directly with the team. I had a phone screen with a project lead, and after the screen I had an interview about 2 weeks later. It was a panel interview with about 10 people. I was asked to prepare a presentation for this interview, and the presentation needed to be 15 minutes in length, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A from the team. This was followed by about an hour of questions from the panel about my experience. I was asked about different technologies, my programming experience, and what I was looking to get out of the role. After the panel interview I was put in a 1:1 with the head project lead to speak about the team, MITRE’s benefits, salary expectations, etc.
After my interview I was put in contact with a recruiter to discuss salary expectations and my timeline. This call took about 30 minutes.
I received an offer about 3 weeks later. I had asked the team to make a decision due to a competing offer.
If you’re looking to get a job at MITRE, it’s possible that the hiring process may not be as fast as other companies. This is not necessarily a bad thing because it seems that they are trying their best to vet their candidates, though this can be to the company’s detriment. It seems like the team I interviewed with had issues with HR, which probably slowed this process down. For me, the speed of this process was frustrating.

Question 1
I was asked to prepare a technical presentation about a topic of my choice. This could be a project from your current job, or your capstone from college. It’s up to you and is completely open-ended.
