MKS Instruments interview questions in Irvine

Interview went well and went on longer than was scheduled. Positive feedback during the call. But you can expect to be ghosted if they're not interested. No post interview feedback as promised, not even a rejection form letter.

I was referred by an employee who knew that I had been doing optomechanical engineering but that in my current role I was doing mechanical with a lot of document control. I spoke with HR, and she was very vague about the title and level. I thought I was applying for a senior optomechanical role; however, she was trying to put me into a different role it seemed. I had an initial phone screen with a bright but inexperienced engineer, who did not seem to understand the technical aspects related to the job. After about 6 weeks, another HR represented contacted me to set up an interview with a hiring manager. That manager called me late from his car, and I could barely understand him. He seemed to be interested in hiring me, but he could not understand why I wanted to do opto-mechanical when they had more need in other roles. I pointed out that the whole reason I was interested was this aspect.
