The process started off smoothly with a pre-screen phone interview with HR, followed by an invitation for an in-person HR interview which, in hindsight, was my first red flag. This added layer seemed to stem from a lack of trust in the associate's initial screening, but ultimately created unnecessary complexity. After a one-hour in-person meeting, there was complete radio silence. No follow-up, no response to emails, and no formal closure of my candidacy.
For marketers considering opportunities at Masters, some thoughts: while the company presents well initially, with strong messaging around family values and culture, my experience suggested otherwise. In a relationship-driven industry, how you treat people, especially prospective talent, matters. Unfortunately, the lack of follow through reflected a disconnect between the values they promote and the actions they take.
Marketers, be aware. This might be a sign that the organization isn’t quite ready to evolve its marketing function or support the growth it aspires to.
