After an initial phone call in order to get some general information about the department and the tasks, I sent my CV. Although my application was considered in that way, I had to submit my application through the corporate online application system again (prepare a good motivation letter, you'll need it in this step!).
The second step was the invitation to an interview. For this I had to prepare a short case study and a presentation (think about the case! Mine took place in India, so I made the presentation in English, although I applied in Germany). In my case it was a telephone interview because I was abroad at that time. The company was very flexible with that.
