      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Miaplaza (Austin, TX)

      Interview

Complete scam! Made it to final rounds of interview where I had to submit a sample lesson. Just like other reviews, I never made it past this stage while they kept my leason.

      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Miaplaza (Chicago, IL) in May 2026

      Interview

The interview process included two assessments, a video script writing assignment, two hour-long interviews with two managers, and a reference check. The assessments were timed and focused on student feedback methods, aptitude, and IQ. After completing all of these steps, being asked about a potential start date, and truly hitting it off with the people I interviewed with, I was rejected. I had to email for an update and was told that they were looking for someone more consistent and ready for the role. What gets me is that I have more experience in the field than the people who interviewed me and know I made a really positive impression. The rejection felt both personal and impersonal, like they criticized my experience in a way that did not reflect how my interviews went. It seemed like someone above the people I interviewed with took one look at my resume and judged it without any other information and denied me. I provided context for any job changes on my resume in our interview but it didn’t mean anything. I haven’t experienced a rejection like this from any other company. It felt very baseless, especially after the impression my interviewers gave me regarding my quality of work and alignment with the company. I know they get a lot of applicants, but I truly felt like I fit right in with the staff and they were impressed with my performance throughout each step. I have a lot of ideas for their courses and was very excited to work alongside people who cared about individual growth, but after this experience I don’t know if I’ll apply again.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked me what is one thing I’d change about education, how do I take feedback, if you could design a class what would it be, etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and transparent review. We aim to create a hiring experience that feels welcoming, respectful, and genuinely personal, so we're sorry to hear that the outcome and the communication surrounding it left you feeling confused and disappointed. We can certainly understand how difficult it would be to invest so much time and effort into multiple assessments, interviews, and conversations, only to feel that the final decision didn't align with the positive interactions you experienced throughout the process. While we strive to provide every candidate with a fair and thorough evaluation, there are times when we must make difficult decisions between highly qualified individuals. Those decisions are never made lightly, and they don't diminish the strengths, experience, or positive impression a candidate may have made during the process. One of our core values is Constant Growth, and that extends to our hiring practices as well. We take feedback like yours seriously and use it as an opportunity to evaluate and improve our processes, communication, and candidate experience. While we may not always get everything right, we are committed to learning and growing from the perspectives shared by candidates. We truly appreciate the time, energy, and enthusiasm you invested in exploring this opportunity with us, and we're grateful for your honest feedback. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
