      ML/AI Engineer Interview

      20 Sept 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Steinsel
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mixvoip (Steinsel) in Sept 2023

      Interview

I applied as an AI expert via a consulting company named Vesperia. I'm sure that this is not the unique feedback Vesperia may have heard from candidates of MixVoip ... unfortunately .. trying to take advantage from people with no cost... because money comes first. First interview was in their office and lasted for 2 hours with 3 people in person including the CEO. First impression was OK even though I was surprised a little bit because no technical question was addressed to me for the whole 2 hours (just general conversation). They suggested to have a second interview. Meanwhile, they sent me via email a technical document detailing the project (arround 35 pages). The document was mainly addressed to get financial aid from FNR. AND they clearly said that they have no knowledge/experience in AI and they rely on me to discuss solutions, feasibility, ... I understood at that point that they are trying to take advantage from a candidate knowledge but I tried to give them a second chance (which I do not regret). Second interview (2,5 hours): I was asked irrelevant questions: - Do you smoke? Are you sure? - Do you drink? Don't lie! - how many hours do you sleep? 8 hours are enought for you? - Do you know how to code? Really? Are you sure? At the end of my second interview, I asked kindly the CEO why he asked such questions and expressed my interest about what the perfect answer he was expecting from a candidate. Here are some red flags I catched when he replied: - about sleeping hours to know if you're the next Elon Musk! - about drinking and smoking because sometimes we do parties together and I want to know which group you will fit. - about coding because I had a previous "woman" employee holding a PhD degree *as you* and couldn't manage to work autonomously in a technical project (as he claimed). First, I mentioned that I don't hold a PhD degree as they said and may be they confused me with another candidate (at this point I was sure they didn't even read my resume). Then I started to make some suggestions like they can give me a technical test so they can see if I pass it or not and if they did it with the other former employee, it will probably . Their answer was simply: you know how much time do we have to invest just to conceive a technical test? We prefer to test an employee outcome after hiring him and if we are not satisfied we fire him immediately. It's simple! And we don't have to waste time as you suggest! Now about how easy or difficult the interview was as a candidate?! I will put 0.5 out of 5 just for the energy you put to answer the CEO without slapping him on the face for his disgusting behaviour. Luckily, I got another offer from a big telecom company and declined their ridiculous offer. If you have already read this review as a "future or current " candidate and had similar experience, please write yours so you can help other candidates know what to expect.
