I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Modern Process Equipment (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2016
Interview
My interview process began weeks before I met with anyone in person at MPE. I spoke with someone at MPE several times on the phone before coming in for an interview. Once I came in for my interview, I felt like I already knew those who interviewed me because we had already been in communication. We discussed my education, past work experience, and what I was looking for in an ideal internship. I was then given a tour of the facility and met most of the people in the office that day. I would say the actual in person interview lasted for about an hour to an hour and a half. For me, this interview was not terribly difficult because I immediatly felt comfortable at MPE. In my phone interview, I asked a lot of questions about the company culture, so I knew going into my personal interview that it was a company that had similar values to my own. I also felt mutually appreciated and like MPE wanted to ensure an internship for me at MPE would benefit me as much as I would ideally benefit them. Usually when applying for internships, students and young adults feel as if they need to prove themselves and over sell themselves. That is not the case at MPE. They were searching for someone who would thrive in the enviornment and experience success.
