I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mountain Valley Child and Family Services (Sacramento, CA) in Nov 2019
Interview
The interview process was awkward and very scripted as they read from a sheet of paper. It was not interpersonal at all it did not feel like the company cared too much about your personality which I feel is important in an organization working with children and families. I was brought in for a second interview where I gave it a chance thinking that I would meet the manager and it would be more personal...but nope. She held the same exact paper with the same exact questions. After this repeat of the first interview, they explained the third part of the interview would be to go to the group home and be observed as I interacted with the clients. The staff advised that I should not stand aside but engage with the clients for the entire session. I felt that this step was really disorganized considering the abruptness of just throwing the worker in without any proper introductions or training. It takes time for children, especially traumatized children or children dealing with emotional issues to warm up to new staff members. I really disliked the whole interview process. It felt very disorganized and not structured to reflect the needs the children and families at all.
I decided from this experience that management wasn't very organized and decided not to follow through with this position. Especially after reading the reviews.
