      People Partner Interview

      13 Apr 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Movable Ink (London, England) in Mar 2022

      Interview

Straight Forward. The process in itself is straight forward and they kept me informed through the process. The people I interviewed with were based in USA so worked with their tine scale which was not an issue. The entire process spanned over 3 weeks. Although they started over 15 years ago; the company is still described as a ‘start up’; mostly comprising of a sales team which they informed me that most of their Managers were inexperienced with their role being their first of which I imagine are mostly cold callers trying to tout business. Additionally it seems their HR processes; at least in U.K. has no established structures and is lacking which often signifies a string of internal people related issues that often find people going off on their own tangent which always means disorganisation. The last interviewer I had came on screen looking unprepared with wet, un-combed hair and her tye-dye Pyjama top still on which I thought showed no efforts made whatsoever ever on her part, unprofessional and lack of formal respect. I was not expecting to see her in buttoned up shirt but something at least fit for the purpose given that I had made effort to make myself interview ready and presentable. Had this been turned around I am sure she would have held the lack of my attire being less than appropriate as hers clearly was against me. This person should have taken cue from their TAP colleague and not come on camera especially knowing they were not dressed appropriately. Employers often forget that as you interview a candidate; they too are interviewing you and observing details as you are. This person talked more about themselves and their previous role within the company than focusing on my experience and or what I could bring to the firm. I asked her what policies they had in place and the answer was dubious with a general response stating that there wasn’t any and that their Managers often went of on a tangent and making up their own rogue processes. Having read their reviews on here especially from those written by their London base; the general consensus is that there is a lack of clear structured people processes as I’d derived from their interviews with me; amongst other issues that were highlighted on these reviews. It’s almost soothing that I wasn’t elected for the job having read these concerning reviews. It seemed that the last person that interviewed me with wet showered hair and a Pyjama top is a ‘pass the buck’ type of person because either because she has no knowledge of the role or just bone idle. It made sense as she just recently acquired the role having deviated from another one within the company. They claim NBA used them to promote their jersey’s however the company’s service is a ‘performance and engagement so not sure how those align. They also claim on their site to be voted ‘best places to work’ since 2018 but this must only be in America cause there were hardly any UK based listed employee benefits or market value salary listed within their employee reviews on here. All in all; I went through four rounds of interview with them and received an automated email on my application being unsuccessful as they chose other candidates above me. Having read the rejection; I didn’t feel as ‘disappointed’ as I imagined I would be.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry that this was your experience. We’ve expanded substantially in the last few years and are proud to have more than 80 employees across the EMEA region and 74 in the UK specifically. We’re lucky to have many tenured employees, some of whom have been at the company for upwards of seven years, who see the unmatched culture we’ve built here at Movable Ink. As we continue to grow, our core values—empathy, curiosity and grit—are our driving force and attributes we look for in candidates. In terms of benefits, I’m sure your interviewer ran through them, but we offer UK employees a robust benefits package that include private health, dental, life insurance, and pension scheme. We’re always looking to improve, evolve our processes, and find new ways to support our Inkers. If you have any additional feedback you’d like to share, please email us at people@movableink.com.
