      Depot Technician Interview

      5 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New Brighton, MN
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mytech Partners (New Brighton, MN) in Nov 2022

      Interview

Applied via Indeed, received a request for a phone interview via email a few days later. Phone interview went great, employer described job description, the company, and what day to day responsibilities the depot technician would have. These details of the job did not match with what was posted in the job ad. The interviewer says that a manager from the local location will be reaching out this week. The next week after that I received an email from a local manager requesting I come in for an interview on days that had been in the past. They corrected their email quickly and offered two interview dates in the future. Two weeks had passed at this point. Upon checking in at MyTech, the tablet they were using to complete this process was extremely laggy and difficult to use, if you pressed a key it would take over two seconds for the tablet to respond and enter the character you pressed. Then the app shut down and lost all your information, after you had clicked submit. The interviewer was a minute late, and there immediately appeared to be a huge disconnect between the interviewer, the corporate phone interviewer, and the job posting itself. None of the three matched up with each other. The tasks and duties the phone interviewer described were different from the job I now found myself in an hour long in person interview for. The local interview asked about customer service, and stressed how this job had customer-facing aspects quite a bit, and even had us role play some help desk phone call scenarios. Let me stress this is an entry level position and was advertised numerous times as so. Wouldn't that mean that your interviewees aren't inclined to know what you're asking for when they say they want to "lead" you into what they want you to say. It's an entry level position. The interviewer themselves seemed fake and less than passionate about their job and the place. The receptionist was not inviting, more of a what are you doing here? Vibe from them. Overall bad vibes from the entire event, the location, the building entrance, the interviewer themselves. The interviewer stated at the end of the interview that if I was so lucky to be the chosen one, they would reach out to me and request a "culture interview," which the interviewer didn't have a description of what that would entail. From what I could see, the only culture around that place was corporate bad vibes and unpopular snacks offered in an effort to make the place seem "welcoming." The phone interviewer also mentioned a tour and viewing of the work area, which never even came up during the hour long interview, which is one of at least three, for an entry level position. Upon returning home I waited until the end of the business day to return their email with a thanks but no thanks.
