Actually, I was not even granted a phone interview. I applied on-line for this senior position with strong industry and professional qualifications. I received an e-mail rejection less than 24 hours later. I have never had this happen before so I attribute it to the fact that NRG is one of the few companies I know that requires the job applicant to provide the month, day, and year of their college entrance and graduation. Therefore, the company probably has an algorithm that figures the age of the job applicant so I was automatically rejected since I am over 50 years of age. That is the only explanation I have. I subsequently sent a letter with my resume to the company president but have received no reply. Anyone over 50 years of age should be put on notice that you will unlikely receive any serious consideration, in my opinion.
