Interview
Application, Civil Service exam, Background Investigation, Psychological exam, Physical exam, Psychological interview, physical fitness test then assignment to the training academy. At any point in time you can be disqualified up to and including the day before academy graduation. Then if you make it beyond all that, a four month field training followed by a 1 year probation period.

The interview and hiring process is rigorous. It is best to expect that you won't be hired. It took me over two years to get the call that I had been accepted into the police academy. By that time, I had taken another job.

Interview
Two part process through civil service and the NOPD. This process is intiated with an application and subsequent written test. Passing the tesat progresses to a physical and then tranmission to the police department for further vetting. The department does a CVSA, personal interview, background check and psychological review. The process may be lengthy but if successful allows you to be hired as a recruit and work in a non-law enforcement capacity until entry into the police academy.
