I was offered the position, they then rescinded the offer. Reason given was I "did not display enough enthusiasm about the role and company". I do believe them that this was the reason as they did not ask for my references or to contact my previous employers so I know it couldn't have been anything negative they said & I have no history that would appear on a background check. When the offer was made over the phone the HR person asked for a final decision within 24 hours. I asked for 48 hours to think it over (which is still less than I've ever been offered, even for summer jobs in high school) to which the HR person didn't directly respond. I was pretty certain I wanted to accept, just wanted to be confident I could commit to a 45 min. commute each way 5 days a week. I expressed my gratitude for the offer and my excitement toward the role pretty explicitly both on the phone and by email. I feel I was pretty complementary of the company during the interview process and showed that I'd done my research. I replied to the offer letter the next day in writing asking if they were at all open to salary negotiation and proposed an amount 10% higher than their original offer, although I think was a pretty tactful & professional in the way I went about it. I've been taught to always do this- even did so in high school for much more entry level positions and it's never been received poorly. I then got the email revoking the offer. Other info: They reached out to me originally and asked me to apply. I went through four rounds of interviews both virtual and in person & completed 3 skills tests in person as well as a culture index (personality test). Everyone seemed nice enough for the most part. The VP of HR seemed great. Was bummed when I first heard they were revoking the offer, as I really was excited about working there and I thought pretty highly of the company. After asking why, I feel like I dodged a bullet as the reason feels like a massive red flag to me. So all in all I think it was for the best, just wish I didn't waste like 7 hours interviewing there, but what can you do. HR person also called me at like 7 am which felt a little weird to me. I called back around 10 and she seemed perturbed that I hadn't answered her first call (I was asleep). Anyway, the job market is the 7th circle of hell in 2024, the year of our lord. If you want to work at OMSNIC be prepared to accept their offer on the spot and do not under any circumstance try to negotiate your salary lol. Maybe pee your pants when you walk into the office to convey your enthusiasm? Anyway, I do hope they find someone whose lifelong dream is sorting their mail as it seems like that is the main function of the role. Best of luck everyone!
