I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at OpenAI (San Francisco, CA) in May 2025
Interview
Badly coordinated from start to finish. Interviews scheduled. I was told explicitly that questions wouldn't be on the topic of ChatGPT or OpenAI but there in fact were. The interviews themselves are not difficult. The process is almost identical to the PM interview process at Meta. There is clearly intentional gatekeeping going on however.

Question 1
What goal would you set for an AI only social network that OpenAI is building?
Recruiter screen was fairly easy. Asked about my experience, went over the job description and then next steps discussion. Moved forward - first round was nothing unexpected. Interviewers looked a little distracted.
I applied online. I interviewed at OpenAI (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2026
Interview
The first interview was with the hiring manager, it felt more like a conversation rather than an interview. I gave an overview of my background and the HM asked questions based on my experience. A couple job specific questions were 1- tell me about a time that you had to manage conflicting priorities and 2- what do you think the most important skill a project manager should have

Question 1
Tell me about a time that you had to manage conflicting priorities
Had a recruiter call and a first interview. Both were not that challenging but did not make it to the next round. Mostly questions about last experience and situational based questions. No case.
