Had a 30-minute screen call with the hiring manager, followed by a 1-hour call with the direct-report. Both calls seemingly went well and the direct-report told me he'd set up a follow-up in-person interview. I sent a thank you note day of. Never heard back, so I sent a follow-up a week later. Never heard back one way or the other.
In our call, the direct-report told me they'd been looking to fill the position for eight months already. I asked why so long and he said it's because he's incredibly picky. (The job is still open as of writing this.)
At the time, the interview process was fine and standard. The company culture seems good and the CEO is impressive. But in retrospect, the process now feels like a total waste of time for what's essentially a glorified travel agency.
