I applied online. I interviewed at Pearson (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2021
Interview
A short phone interview with someone from the HR headquarters somewhere in the midwest, then an in person interview at the testing site, followed by additional interview with someone else. A 3 round interview process for a PART-TIME job. Also they say to wear business casual, but I guess it's the kind where jeans aren't allowed. The interviewer gave me a hard time for wearing jeans, however the worker who greeted me when I entered the room was wearing leggings and a pullover Abercrombie hoody, so I guess they are really inconsistent about enforcing dress-code. The interviewer also implied that they only schedule the bare minimum amount of people they need, which implies that they are: 1. Always understaffed 2. They don't want you to call in sick ever 3. They want you to come in even if the road conditions are too dangerous to drive 4. They want you to basically be on call in case someone else can't make it in. The interviewer mentioned the last point specifically in the interview, which I feel is too much to ask of someone for a PART-TIME job that pays you as little as legally possible. Also, you aren't allowed to use your phone in the waiting room while they make you wait for your interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What do you know about Pearson? Name a time when you had to make a last minute adjustment to the way you do things. How did you handle that?
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Pearson (Alhambra, CA) in Nov 2025
Interview
There was an initial interview with the HR recruiter then the manager of the site. They were extremely transparent about explaining the high-stakes nature of the work, what to expect when working, and making sure the job is truly a good fit. It was more explanation than interview, which I appreciated.
There was a glaring absence of professionalism on HR’s part. HR reached out for my availability, which I responded immediately. Then nothing, no response, no update. Months later, I got a generic rejection. HR clearly lacks organization and respect for candidates’ time. A disorganized and careless process.
