They asked some general questions, then there was a written portion to test general knowledge and a hands-on portion to make sure you at least know how to use a pipette.

Very long. Written test, oral interview, polygraph exam, physical test, psychological test, background investigation. This is the type of career that you have to really want to be a part of. This isn't a job that you take for a while thinking you'll try it and then move on to something else in 5 or 10 years. Being a Pennsylvania State Trooper is not just a job, it is a lifestyle.
