I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PetSmart (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2017
Interview
Super easy, the store manager was the one to interview me. Super friendly and easy going, connected on spot. Despite my anxiety, the atmosphere provided was very positive and I felt very confident in the one on one interview. Got the call later in the day, and they had me come in for the interview the next day. Overall, questions took about 15 minutes. It really just ended up with me and the store manager sharing a conversation and laughs.
I applied for a number of years through high school. I did not get a call until I attended National Hiring Day. I was able to speak to managers directly. I was a nutritional advocate with a pet food company before within Petsmart for about 6 months. Manager got to know me that way. I got a job offer from 2 locations following the interview day. Accepted 1 and now have trained all sales employees cash that currently work there. I’ve been there for almost 10 years now. It wasn’t easy for me to get an interview. But it was worth the wait in the long run.
Short and to the point in terms of how you handle situations and customers. Offer guidance in what they are looking for. Prior experience is not necessary but will always help.
It was a pretty retail interview experience. They talked about what working with pets and animals would be like and how to handle that, and also just things about retail in general.
