      Customer Success Interview

      21 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at PlaceIQ (New York, NY) in Oct 2019

      Interview

As mentioned by the other negative reviews from their own employees and potential interviewee's, this was a terrible interview experience. After speaking with the recruiter for a intro phone screen , I was then connected to their SVP of revenue for a call. The SVP was incredibly rude and did not seem interested in my qualifications at all. He simply peppered me with questions about my current employer. (Which in hindsight makes more sense, now what their dreadful interview process has end.) During the detestable phone interview with their SVP, it got to the point where I stopped the interview and challenged him for his unprofessional interview demeanor. It was a very tense situation. I wasn't sure if he was being combative as a test of sorts? Once we ran out of time, he asked to schedule another call where I'd be allowed to ask questions. Which I agreed to do. During the second call, it was very clear the person was not prepared for the call, seemed rushed and gave on the most basic of answers about the requirements for the role. It seemed we finally had a baseline understanding, so I agreed to meet in person in their offices a week later. The office interview was with 5 people and took over 2 hours to complete. While all asked great questions, it seems they they were more interested in replacing the previous employee who left, than finding a new qualified replacement. After the in-person meetings, I was asked to provide references. What should have been a huge RED FLAG was the request to get multiple references from my existing customers. Which to me would be unethical to provide, as they could then pitch my clients their services later. After providing them with personal and former managers as references to speak with, I got a short message saying they would not proceed with my candidacy. They wanted a candidates who "better suit our specific needs". Which begs the question, why bring me into the office and then ask for references? The entire process potentially seemed a sham and desperate attempt to find new clients. If you are considering working or applying to PlaceIQ... simply read these reviews and ask yourself why so many people report negatives. They can't all be wrong, no?
