Disappointing. I was brought in as I applied for one position that had apparently already been filled internally to discuss a new role that was being created (I didn’t find this out until I got there).
Compensation was discussed briefly in the first meeting and I specifically mentioned my range which didn’t seem to be of issue. When I returned for a second interview, I asked if a pay range had been decided for the role (it came in way under what I would expect a manager to be compensated and wildly under the lowest I said I would accept in a new role). He claimed to not remember speaking about compensation expectations in the first interview but since he was the one that asked me what I was expecting, I have a hard time believing that.
Overall I was very excited for the opportunity in the beginning because the organization seemed to be a very people centered company. That was not the impression I have now as it seems that this specific person didn’t mind wasting my time and had no problem low balling a candidate. When I asked to see a job description (thinking I had misunderstood the role) and a pay scale I was ghosted.
