Initial conversations with the talent team were positive, and the role requirements and my background were discussed in detail. During these discussions, it was clear that I did not possess one specific area of expertise they were seeking, and this was also not reflected anywhere on my CV. Despite this, I was fast-tracked to a face-to-face interview, which felt encouraging at the time and led me to invest significant preparation and enthusiasm into the process.
I had to take time away from my current role to attend the interview, only to experience the very first question and the overall focus of the interview, centred almost entirely on the one area I had already highlighted I had very limited exposure to.
It has now been over a week since the interview, and I have still not received an outcome or even a courtesy follow-up.
The experience ultimately left me feeling as though I was entirely unsuitable for the role, despite my skills and experience being clearly outlined from the beginning. In my opinion, this reflects a lack of alignment during the recruitment process and a disappointing level of respect and communication towards candidates.
