I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Professional Service Industries (Chicago, IL)
Interview
Applied for a position through a craigslist ad without knowing the company that posted the ad. HR guy e-mailed me and then I called him and spoke for over an hour. He was nice but sounded like a salesman. He then said he'd "float" my resume around his region. I was unemployed and studying for the PE at the time. I was very flexible and ready to relocate within reason.
Within 2 days I got a call from a manager from an office and then we played phone tag for 2 days. While waiting to speak to hear back from him I got an e-mailed official job offer and contract to sign and they expected me to sign on and move and be ready to go in a week without so much as meeting or even speaking to the manager - I had no idea what I was walking into- they were obviously desperate for bodies in this undesirable location and I found this very unprofessional and off-putting.
The pay rate they offered was fair but since they were so weird I countered with a salary about 10% higher and was ready to take a chance and move if they accepted my counter-offer. Well, I never heard back from them - no e-mails or phone calls from HR or the office manager who was gung-ho to hire me without ever talking to me.
What a crazy experience - I do not regret not working for PSI.
