Spoke with the CEO and was given an assignment to do. The assignment entailed using their data to write a short news article. It around 10 hours to do (you are asked to include auxiliary figures and provide code). I mistakenly mimicked their article style for their website (cliche, upbeat, and making causal claims that are suggested by the data, but of course no rigorous analysis), but I guess that is why they were looking for someone new because their old articles were poor quality. The response from the CEO was extremely unprofessional and rude: a quick rejection email filled with typos and how I am not up to the standards of the company. This was within 5 minutes of sending the article. I felt a little better seeing this happened to multiple people from Glassdoor. It was very upsetting to waste hours of time not to really be taken seriously by someone with an ego who takes pleasure in degrading others. I imagine he would be a nightmare to work with. I do not recommend wasting your time with this startup. I doubt it will succeed under the current leadership.

Interview
Avoid avoid avoid. I wish I had seen the reviews below before wasting my time doing their data task as I had a similar experience. The quality of their "research" is embarrassing and it seems like they do not have the ability/discernment to know good work from bad - and will be quite rude about it. To future candidates, I would recommend not taking them seriously as you will be wasting your time.
