I had a great time interviewing with Robinhood!!!
These guys were amazing --- very professional, courteous and prompt with scheduling and getting back with feedback.
I'll provide my feedback and anlysis in three (3) parts as follows:
1. How the process went for me;
2. My positive thoughts on the process;
and
3. Some concerns around the interviews and questions about the role and
company that went unanswered.
The Process:
* I applied online;
* Recruiter e-mailed me to do a phone screen;
* Phone screen lasted 30 minutes;
* Coordinators scheduled a 30
minute chat with the hiring manager;
* Chat with the hiring manager was via Google Meets; and
* Recruiter phoned me to provide feedback.
My thoughts on the process:
* The team at Robinhood was very professional and I enjoyed the entire process;
* The e-mails and scheduling was prompt and quick;
* The entire team was courteous and accomodating; and
* The feedback was quick and prompt (i.e. no "ghosting" here --- they were very transparent).
Some concerns:
* I found it troubling and perplexing that the people I had interviewed with defeclected away from some pressing questions;
* Based on public information, Robinhood's (HOOD) market cap took a nose dive from its $65 market cap during its IPO to $10B in a matter months, and they could provide an explaination as to why;
* Robinhood has faced some scrutinity from the SEC with respect to its trading practices (which was widely reported in the media), yet when pressed about this, they did not answer and changed topics;
* I also asked about they would expand outside of the US markets, and yet again, no straight-forward answer;
* I pressed about much of the negative feedback about Robinhood's app, yet again, no response; and
* I was curious to know as to why this role has been open for over 8 momths now, as usual, I got no answer.
Even I was not selected as the final candidate (and I am glad I am not joining the Robinhood Corp Dev team because of the concerns that I have raised), I hope my experience can be helpful to others. Good luck!
