Friendly and encouraging. Honest about questions as to the position not quite matching my career path and other avenues at the company being a better fit. Also explained how this was similar to hires that left the position quickly and wanting to improve the fit of their new choice. Promptly let me know when the decided to go with a different candidate and passed my resume along to partner organizations that fit my desired advocacy role /path.
