      Inside Sales Representative Interview

      3 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at SailPoint Technologies (Washington, DC) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Standard process. Learned within discussions that SailPoint was looking for a very experienced sales person for an inside role but having more of operational experience, had to go into full depth of my past sales experience. It became apparent the training/onboarding is not for a newbie salespeople.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about yourself. What solutions do you have experience selling? How do you prospect? Why do you want to leave your current position?

      Inside Sales Representative Interview

      14 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Diego, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SailPoint Technologies (San Diego, CA) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I had a 30 min conversation with an external recruiter followed by a corporate recruiter scheduling me a panel interview. There was no run down of the company or what to expect in the panel interview aside from an email stating what time I’d be meeting each member of the team. The panel interview involved 4 members of the sales team (3 managers and a director) in 30 minute consecutive blocks. I had 3 members of the panel show up on the original panel interview, while one had to reschedule. I really enjoyed the first day with the 3 panel members. The conversations were great, felt very causal, and the processes were similar to those I’ve done in the past. At the end of this panel interview I felt very confident that I was going to move forward. They wanted me to meet with the member I wasn’t able to meet in the first round before moving forward with a potential offer letter. I was unaware I still had to meet up with him, since I got all the questions I needed out of the way and felt like this was a great fit. The 4th panel member was someone who relocated from the city I was currently in to Austin. So I felt this conversation would be more casual about relocating. When the 4th panel member interviewed me I noticed a lot of the questions were repeat of the 1st panel interview. It also didn’t feel very casual and pretty much a question followed by checking off a box on the paper he was filling out. At the end of the interview he asked if I had any questions and I told him I was able to get all my questions answered and that I’d like to limit this to more a personal question session about the relocating transition, the location of the office, etc. Once the questions were answered he informed me he had to screen a few more interviews and I’d hear back from HR in a few days. I thanked him then the following day I sent a thank you email to each member of the team (since we are in covid and I can’t send a hand written letter). A few days passed and I didn’t hear anything from HR. So I sent HR a follow up email asking for an update. I heard back a following week later with a response saying “I am sorry to say that the team decided to move forward with other candidates with a stronger background fit at this time.” I asked if I could be contacted for feedback on what went wrong in the interview, especially since I had a very similar process as their sales process, I understood what their company did, I know their external systems, and I felt their was report built with those I interviewed with. I never got a response back.
