      Customer Support Engineer Interview

      16 Jul 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sauce Labs (San Francisco, CA) in May 2018

      Interview

I applied online. A recruiter reached out and I scheduled a 30 minute video call with the hiring manager. After that, a 1 hour writing test and a 3 hour technical assessment with a recommended three hours of prep. We were about to schedule the onsite, but two weeks later they informed me they had extended an offer to another candidate. I really liked the hiring manager and the recruiter. Both were great to talk to, and the recruiter was always on top of scheduling. I was a bit frustrated that they took two weeks to reject me, but I understand that they didn't want to bring me in if they couldn't extend an offer. They said they would be happy to bring me in for a final round if another headcount opened up. I appreciated this and would have been happy to do so; the product, people, and company seemed great from what I could see. I wasn't working, so I didn't mind the 3 hour technical assessment during working hours. It's a lot to ask for people who need to take time off work though. Most other support engineer assessments I have done have been take home assignments. In my opinion, this one could have been too.

      Customer Support Engineer Interview

      1 Sept 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Sauce Labs (San Jose, CA) in Jun 2016

      Interview

Was contacted by a recruiter. 2 weeks later I had a skype interview with the manager of support. the interview went well, at least seemingly so. I was asked "the next step is usually take a test, do you want to take it?" I say Yes, i dont hear anything from them for 2 weeks, i have to email them again and ask to take it and we schedule it i take the test, which was fairly easy, questions about the DOM, knowing html/css, knowing selenium commands, knowing some java. all very basic i fulfilled everything 100%, despite completing everything, i hear nothing back. i have to email them AGAIN just to hear anything. they did not give me an offer, which was fine. but when they gave no offer, not even any words as to why they are rejecting you, just got an email of "sorry we're going to move on to the next one" very unprofessional. i do not recommend. they will just waste your time taking a 2-3 hour test. and they will also waste the 5-6 weeks they pull you around, at least thats how it was for me with the lack of communication
