I recently interviewed with Scotiabank for a Software Engineer role. The process included multiple stages: an initial recruiter screening, followed by a technical round with the team lead and hiring manager, and a final technical interview with a director.
While the interview process itself was structured and professional during the interactions, the post-interview experience was disappointing. After completing all rounds, I did not receive any formal communication regarding the outcome.
For candidates investing significant time and effort across multiple stages, a simple rejection email is a basic expectation. The lack of closure reflects poorly on candidate experience and professionalism.
Suggestion: Improve communication standards by ensuring all candidates—especially those who complete multiple rounds—receive timely updates or closure.
This feedback is intended to help future candidates set expectations and encourage better hiring practices.
