      Frontend Engineer Interview

      4 Oct 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SeatGeek (New York, NY)

      Interview

Quick initial phone screen with a frontend engineer. Next round was a technical screen which was supposed to be with a frontend engineer but ended up being with a backend engineer who does a bit of frontend. Interviewer was not friendly and he acted like this interview was the last thing he wanted to do that day. He went down a list of questions he was supposed to ask. Some of the questions were practical ("Tell me about positions in CSS") and some were impractical ("Write fizzbuzz without any if/else statements"). I do care that a company hires its engineers by asking practical, on-the-job questions so I already felt SeatGeek & I weren't going to be a match. I also want to see how the interviewer approaches the technical interview because I want to be around engineers that focus on pairing, improving one another, etc. This interviewer clearly didn't care about that.
