      Application

      Interview

I did not have an interview. I applied online and a few days later I received an email letting me know that based on my career history, they were pleased to extend an invitation to complete our two pre-employment assessments. One was a cognitive assessment, the second was a personality assessment. I completed the assessment, and about 5 days later, (on a Saturday) I was told " There was a large response for this position; which makes our selection decision very difficult. The team has decided to move forward with other candidates that more closely fit the needs of this role." There was no other feedback in regards to the assessment, they tell beforehand you that will not be given your results. So I'm guessing I didn't score high enough on one of the assessments. While I understand the need for the assessments, it's a bit discouraging to be cut out of the hiring process so soon, without even having a phone interview. It would have been nice to at least speak with someone prior to completing the assessment. Not sure how you can form an opinion on someone by seeing how they score on paper before even giving an interview. Seems like the complete opposite of what they claim to do hiring wise. I read a great article about how they hiring people from different backgrounds and skill sets, but I guess that doesn't matter if you don't pass their assessment.

Thank you for taking the time to review us on Glassdoor. We really appreciate the time you took, participating in our recruiting process. You’re right, our process is a little atypical, but for good reasons, I’d like to share with you here. SecureLink has a unique culture. and because we value that uniqueness and diversity more than what university our candidates attended or where our candidates last worked. Because of that, we include two assessments in our process that, we find, help predict your success in our environment. It’s also important to note that the assessment is just one data point among many when we review candidates. In short, we want the company and employees to be set up for success. There are two assessments that measure your suitability: aptitude and personality. 100% of candidates who interview and employees among our ranks, at all jobs, at every level —from interns to our executive team — have taken these assessments. We take great pride in hiring non-traditional candidates: this place is full of people who have made careers shifts, moved from non-profit to the private sector, gone back to work after taking time to raise kiddos, or just looking to pick up extra hours while continuing to work a career they love. In an effort to consider a more diverse group of candidates, including non-traditional candidates those I've listed above, we assess aptitude and personality. SecureLink is a great place to work, as you can see from our employee reviews. As you can imagine, we field thousands of resumes every year and while we'd like to give every single candidate an opportunity to interview onsite, it's simply not feasible. We hope this helps you understand the value we see in these assessments and why we've integrated this step into our recruiting process, but if it hasn’t, I’d be glad to discuss it further with you. Feel free to email us me at people@securelink.comor call our office at 512-637-8700. Lexi Jones, VP of People @ SecureLink
