I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Smoothstack (Worcester, MA) in Sept 2022
Interview
Their interview process is pretty extensive. You start with a coding challenge, into a phone interview, and then a technical interview. I had made it to the technical interview but unfortunately did not receive an offer to continue past it. The coding challenge was fairly simple if you have a basic coding background and can pick up stuff easily. I was asked about C++, bash, and MySQL. I hadn't known any MySQL before taking the test and I was able to complete it with just the documentation up as reference. The phone interview I can skip over, very standard stuff. The technical interview I was asked some technical questions and then asked to show and demo a project I had written the code for. The questions were related to programming concepts as a whole, languages I had mentioned proficiency in on my resume (so C++ and C#), and SQL. I had no problems, they were great through the whole process and if I had a more standard background maybe I'd have made it forward or would be willing to try again, but it's probably for the best as my lack of database knowledge would probably mean I'm not a good fit. Best of luck to those who are in the process themselves.
