      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SoFi (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2023

      Interview

SAVE YOURSELF FROM MENTAL TRAUMA. I aced the interviews and got good feedback. Recruiter came back to me asking if I have competing which I did and then he went on complete radio silence for a month. Then someone else reached out saying you really had good feedback we have position in another team, are you open ? and I still was. They interviewed me again which also went great. The Hiring manager and team gave a nod and extended me the offer on email and we mutually agreed to a number. Next day they took the offer back saying, leadership will not move ahead. The recruiters put all the blame on leadership and showed them in complete bad light saying hiring managers and leadership are not in sync. They don't trust each other. Leadership doesn't want to go into the context, they really don't care. So I am not sure what's going on here. This experience is really haunting me. Recruiters tone changed in a blink of eye , they went from praising me to insulting me in a day after wasting 3 month of my time in the process. They wasted so much of my time, energy and caused me such mental distress. Brace for humiliation if you still want to interview.

      Application

      Interview

I cleared all the rounds and received a verbal offer, but ended up rescinding the offer because the role seems to have been removed and after me clearing and giving me a verbal offer. This was frustrating, as I had worked really hard to prepare and clear the interviews, and I was genuinely looking forward to the opportunity. Overall, the interview process itself was smooth but frustrating at the end. The HR team was helpful throughout and supported me in coordinating the entire process. The interview included practical system design questions and LeetCode-style coding questions, mostly around medium difficulty. For both the system design and coding rounds, it is important to clearly talk through your thought process. The interviewers were helpful and would redirect the discussion if they felt I was going in the wrong direction.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SoFi in Feb 2025

      Interview

Reached out by recruiter on linkedin. Standard recruiter call. After that was a phone screen. The phone screen consisted of 2 medium LC questions. I was unprepared as I thought there would only be one. It seems like there is no standard process/question for what the interviewer can ask. Interviewer was unfriendly and had camera off for most of the call. I was disappointed by the process. If you have 2 medium questions in the phone screen, at least pay like Meta :)

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at SoFi in Jan 2025

      Interview

This is the worst company I've ever interviewed with. I cleared the OA with 100% test cases passing for both the coding questions. The recruiter said they'll be moving forward and they will be scheduling the onsite. After two days, instead of getting the onsite interviews, I got another tech screening. I just gave it the benefit of the doubt and still interviewed for the screening. My interview went pretty well. I solved the question optimally and covered all test cases, answered all technical questions. The interviewer also seemed happy. 1 week later, the recruiter called me and said, "there were issues with hackerrank system and so it was passing test cases, so unfortunately we are not moving forward". When I gave the OA, I solved both questions and there were some tests which failed initially and I had to fix all of them. So how is it possible the system had issues. I had read so many rumors that they only take people who are from Amazon or Microsoft. It really says more about the company and its culture. A highly disappointing and unprofessional experience.
