Spinnin' Records' hiring process is absolutely absurd, and I'm glad I dodged a bullet. The entire process took three months to reach a conclusion. As part of the assessment, I was asked to complete an extensive case study with no access to any backend data for decision-making. Moreover, the case study lacked sufficient information available online. After finishing the case study, it took them a month just to acknowledge the effort I put into it. A month later, I had a meeting with the hiring manager. The manager wanted to chat and informed me to "wait for one more week" because they were awaiting approvals from their parent company. The reason sounded genuine and valid. The manager also told me that the next step would involve an interview with the head of the department. However, three weeks later, I was informed that they had chosen another candidate due to their greater experience. More than being disappointed about not getting the role, I'm disappointed by the fact that I was lied to. There was no transparency or honesty. I genuinely believe I dodged a bullet, as I wouldn't want to work with a team that lacks basic communication skills and empathy.
