I applied online. I interviewed at State of Colorado (Longmont, CO) in Jul 2023
Interview
The interview process was repeatability straightforward, a report writing test, physical fitness test and a panel interview with 3 security supervisors and the Director of Security. They gave everyone a list of the questions that would be asked during the interview.

Question 1
Tell us about a time that you had to deal with a extremely stressful situation and what was the outcome?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at State of Colorado (Denver, CO) in Nov 2024
Interview
I submitted my application online and received an invite for an initial interview with the department of internet technology. They actually have really great documentation they share with candidates around the process, the culture of the department, etc. and it also seems like there is a lot of diversity within the department, so I applaud them for that.
I went through 3 or 4 interviews, most of them panel interviews where the interviewees asked scripted questions. All of the panels were professional and seemed interested in what I was saying and also sharing information about themselves and the role.
My indication that I was not going to get the role should have been when I realized I made it all the way to the final interview without ever having been interviewed by the hiring manager. The final interview I did have went well, but weeks went by without hearing anything. I got a really curt follow-up about a timeline at one point. Then four weeks after that the hiring manager who I never interviewed with finally sent the copy + paste rejection letter. Overall, the interview process was average - I'm just begging hiring organizations to please be more empathetic to candidates in this job market. There's no need for multiple interviews. There's no need to make the process months-long.

Question 1
Typical product manager questions like how you handle conflict, competing priorities, etc.
The first round of interviews were conducted virtually through a video platform that allowed you to record your answers. I believe there were six questions. All of the questions pertained directly to work experience and weren't culture/personality fit questions. I didn't make it through to further rounds of interviews but wasn't notified of this until the position was filled months later.
