      I interviewed at Stitch Fix

      Interview

It was supposed to be a 3 hour interview, conducted via Zoom, in 2021. My technical interview was cut short after 5 minutes due to a malfunction on Stitch Fix's side. I completed one other interview after that, and then during my regularly-scheduled interview with HR, the rep rudely told me that they "didn't want to waste either of our time" and that they would be ending the interview process. Mind you that I landed a $125k position as a senior software engineer with the same tech stack a few weeks later, so I was very qualified for the position I applied for, but the recruiting staff determined last minute that they were going to have me interview for a lead position, which I had lots of hesitation about. I didn't get a say in the matter, though. Not only that, but I was working part time at a restaurant at the time, struggling to make ends meet, and I had to jump through hoops in order to block off the 3-hour interview time. For them to rudely write me off like this, especially when my technical interview (the one where I would have been able to showcase my skills the most) was cut so short, was beyond unprofessional.

      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Stitch Fix

      Interview

Received a phone screen after meeting a Stitch Fix engineer at a job fair. Initial phone screen was pleasant and gave me good insight into the company culture. I was then given a take home challenge that took approximately five days to complete. Poured my heart and soul into that project. After turning it in, I received no response even after two weeks. I followed up asking about the status of the project. I received an impersonal rejection letter that day itself, making me suspect that they either forgot about my project or decided not to pursue me a long time ago. I strongly believe that my project was never even looked at. I asked the HR rep for feedback and she never replied back to me. This entire process shows blatant disrespect for potential employees. Remember that hiring is a two way process. Both the candidate and the employer should feel respected. As a candidate, my time and energy were not valued.

This sucks to hear. This is not the experience we’ve set out to create, so thank you for your honest feedback. We really appreciate it!
